The Road Transport Expo (RTX) 2024 roared into action earlier this June, solidifying its place as the premier event for the commercial trucking industry in the UK.
Held at the NAEC Stoneleigh in Warwickshire, the expo brought together industry leaders, businesses, and enthusiasts for three days of exhibitions, insightful seminars and live demonstrations.
WG Tanker Makes a Lasting Impression
WG Tanker proudly participated in the expo, celebrating their 35th anniversary by showcasing our impressive range of products and services.
Visitors to Stand Y25 had the opportunity to explore WG Tanker’s innovative new offerings, including our bottom discharger hire tanker with our latest Stage V Compliant Emissions Power Pack with GHH Compressor and our latest 55kw Electric Power Pack.
Bigger and Better Than Ever
Despite some awful weather on the day of the expo, the event was a huge success for everyone involved.
Over 290 exhibitors, including 12 truck manufacturers descended upon RTX 2024, showcasing the latest and greatest in commercial vehicles. From cutting-edge trucks and trailers to specialised tippers and tankers, attendees were treated to a comprehensive overview of the industry’s advancements.
Important Discussions at the Knowledge Hub
Alongside the impressive displays, the expo’s dedicated Knowledge Hub proved to be a major draw. Packed with informative seminars, the hub offered attendees the chance to stay ahead of the curve on industry trends. Leading experts tackled critical topics like the future of trucking, operating policy updates and even cybersecurity in logistics, providing valuable insights to the audience.
One particularly important discussion, the ‘Policy and Compliance Spotlight’ saw Chris Ashley, Head of Policy, Environment and Vehicles at the RHA and Michelle Gardner, Deputy Director of Policy at Logistics UK, layout the significance of next months general election as the industry looks for more clarity on a ‘net-zero road map’.
“The government needs to be leading the way with a road map and setting up a pathway for operators,” Gardner said. “For fleets it’s about reducing emissions immediately and the government could be doing that by incentivising operators with lower costs for lower carbon fuel. We’ll still have a significant number of diesel vehicles on the road at the phase-out date for new diesel vehicles so we need to make sure they’re as carbon efficient as possible. It’s a transition not an overnight change.”
Record-Breaking Attendance
The 2024 edition of RTX proved to be the biggest and most successful yet, with a record number of visitors gracing the event. This overwhelming response highlights the expo’s importance as a platform for networking, learning and exploring the ever-evolving world of commercial transportation.
Looking Ahead to 2025
With the 2024 edition wrapped up, the excitement is already building for next year’s event. Mark your calendars for June 24th-26th, 2025, and get ready for another action-packed edition of the Road Transport Expo!
